Item Media preferences of local advertisers in Iloilo CityBonifacio, Nuevelar; Kawaguche, Gretchen (Division of Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas, 2006-10)This Broadcast Research is entitled "Media Preferences of Local Advertisers in Iloilo City. " The objectives of this study are to identify the local advertisers in Iloilo City, to categorize local advertisers, to determine the type of medium used in advertising a product, to differentiate the characteristics of each medium in advertising a product, and to find out the reasons why businessmen advertise a product. The study has 20 respondents. The researchers categorized the different businesses into four such as food, health, general services and housing utilities. The researchers gather the data through survey. Based on the results of the survey, it shows that businessmen in every category have different media preferences. The data shows that in food and health category, the most preferred medium was newspaper. In general services category, radio was the most preferred medium. However, in housing utilities category, radio and tri-media was the most preferred medium by the advertisers. Moreover, the respondents identified reasons why they advertise. It to was found bring out that businessmen engaged in advertising to bring new products to the attention of the consumers to buy or accept a product. Next, they advertise to maintain and defend markets for established brands, followed by helping potential customers choose among competing brands. And the last reason was to increase the use of goods and services among customers.Item Social responsibility on the use of media technologyBeloya, Marian Kristina C.; Camancho, Rea Micah C.; Perez, Mary Lydannie V.; Villanueva, Ma. (Division of Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas, 2005-10-21)This study is about responsibility on the use of media technology specifically cellular phones. The study is done through a survey measuring on respondents’ behavior and awareness of social responsibility pertaining to the use of cellular phone. Residents of UPV Miagao dormitories (Balay Apitong, Balay Gumamela, Balay Lampirong, Balay Kanlaon, and Balay Madyaas) were chosen as respondents to the study. The results of the study show that the respondents are Aware of their social responsibility but they are Sometimes responsible in using their cellular phone and as senders and receivers. Therefore, the UPV Miagao dormitory residents are Quite Socially Responsible on the use of media technology specifically cellular phones.Item Nature and operation of local cable networks in Miag-ao and Janiuay, Iloilo as they adhere to NTC rules and regulations as they serve subscribersAspa, Ma. Edevae; Deferia, Mary Gold; Umadhay, Julie Ann (Division of Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas, 2004-10)This study is about the two local cable networks in the province of Iloilo, namely. Southern Iloilo Cable Incorporated in Miag-ao and Oway Cable Ventures Incorporated in Janiuay. The study aims to know the nature and operation of the local cable networks in Miagao and Janiuay, Iloilo. It aims to find out the similarities and differences of the said local cable networks, and determine if these local cable networks follow the rules and regulations set by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC). Purposive sampling, a type of non-probability sampling that uses respondents who best meets the purpose of this study, is used. The station managers are allowed to select the respective subscribers to be surveyed for the purpose of getting the exact location of their coverage, to know the condition of the reception, and the perception of the subscribers on the said local cable network in the municipality. In analyzing the data gathered, the researchers used frequency counts and percentage. Results show that the subscribers of Southern Iloilo Cable Incorporated in Miag-ao, Iloilo were not satisfied with the services offered by the local cable network in the municipality. Meanwhile, the subscribers in Janiuay, Iloilo were satisfied with the services offered by Oway Cable Ventures Incorporated.
