    The perception of Ilonggo audience towards Mag-TV na Amiga in terms of theme program format and talents: A production research

    The study is about the Perception of Ilonggo Audience towards the Magazine Show Mag-TV na Amiga! in terms of Theme, Program Format, and Talents. This study identified the perception of the Ilonggo audience towards the magazine show Mag-TV na Amiga! in terms of its Themes, Program Format, and Talents. Out of the results, conclusions, and recommendations of this study, the researchers produced a 15-minute segment of Mag-TVna Amiga! The survey was conducted in three barangays coming from three different districts of the City of Iloilo which were selected through random sampling. Through the survey, the researchers were able to identify the perception of the Ilonggo audience towards Mag-TV na Amiga! in terms of its Theme, Program Format, and Talents. The researchers concluded that the Ilonggo audiences have an over-all positive response towards the present Theme, Program Format, and Talents of Mag-TV na Amiga! , but have taken into consideration the recommendations of some respondents for the improvement of the magazine show.

    Computer-mediated-interactive-communication technology and self-disclosure of seafarers in Miagao

    Thirteen (13) married seafarer residents of Miagao were selected through convenience sampling for this study. They had at least 2 years of on board working experience and have finished their contracts abroad in not more than a year during the data collection. A semi-structured interview guide was utilized to gather basic information and the implication of computer-mediated-interactive-communication technology to selfdisclosure between seafarers and their partners. Results showed that all respondents utilize cellular phones and that majority utilize computers for video chatting and internet relay chat in communicating with their partner. Respondents reported disclosing about their family, financial matters, work experiences, and their feelings. CMICTs were viewed by the respondents as an aid in maintaining their relationship with their partner.

    The current profile and situation of Iloilo provincial media practitioners in AM radio station

    This study aims to know the current profile and situation of Iloilo provincial media practitioners in AM radio stations. This aims presents the profile of the media practitioners in the radio stations specifically in Bombo Radyo (DYFM), Radyo ng Bayan (DYLL), Aksyon Radyo (DYOK), Super Radyo (DYSI) and IBC (DYBQ) . The instruments used by the researchers in conducting this study were open-ended questionnaire and interview. A census of all media practitioners in the said five radio stations were taken as respondents. This was conducted during the first semester of AY 2004-2005. Results show that the broadcasting profession in Iloilo AM radio stations is a viable profession in terms of improving the total way of life of broadcasters.

    Socio-economic conditions and LGU responses to urbanization of the municipalities of Leganes, Oton, Pavia, and San Miguel before and after the formation of Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Economic Development Council (MIGEDC)

    Urbanization is a process which promotes economic growth and development. On the other hand, it has its corresponding externalities spilled over from the urban areas to the adjacent locales. One of the management strategies used by the local government units (LGUs) in order to address the overwhelming consequences of urbanization is alliance formation. Limited studies were conducted to establish socio-economic contributions of urbanization to the suburban areas. This study aims to describe and compare the socio-economic condition and LGU responses to urbanization of the municipalities of Oton, Leganes, Pavia, and San Miguel before and after the formation of Metro Iloilo-Guimaras Economic Development Council (MIGEDC). The result of the study showed that there is a need for greater collaboration in various areas such as: land use management in accordance to each municipality’s special functional role; water and energy management to foster economies of scale, health services since the pressing problem of air pollution excludes no one; public safety services to establish a functional disaster and crime prevention system; environmental management for sustainable development; infrastructure services for complementary plans and projects; and investment opportunity promotions. Communication and education services need not be further integrated when it comes to managing the externalities of urbanization in Iloilo City.
