Item Five-factor model of personality and job satisfaction on organizational commitment of bank employeesCaigoy, Denise C. (Division of Social Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas, 2015-05)This is a descriptive-correlational study aimed to determine and explore the relationship of personality traits, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment of bank employees in Iloilo City Proper. One hundred ten (110) bank employees aging 20-59 years old were selected through a convenience sampling. The instruments used were Big Five Inventory, Porter’s Job Satisfaction Survey, and Allen and Meyer's Organizational Commitment Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Pearson Correlation and Regression. Analysis showed that there is significant relationship between personality traits particularly of extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism and job satisfaction. Agreeableness, conscientiousness, and emotional stability (neuroticism) can predict affective commitment. Extraversion can develop continuance commitment. Agreeableness and Openness to experience can predict normative commitment. It was also found that job satisfaction was an antecedent of organizational commitment.Item Some psychosocial factors in adolescents' acceptance of sexual mythsAgrasada, Frotzi Ann B.; Sagge, Stacey Marie N. (Division of Biological Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas, 2005-03)This study investigated the relationships of psychosocial factors namely: family openness in communication, religiosity, attitude towards sex, and sexuality education with adolescents’ acceptance of sexual myths. One hundred (100) first year college students composed of 50 males and 50 females from a public school completed a series of survey instruments designed to measure the variables under investigation. Design of the study was correlational. To show relationships between variables, data were analyzed using the Pearson r correlational statistic. Statistical analyses showed support for the relationship between religiosity and acceptance of sexual myths, that is, the higher the religiosity, the more is acceptance of sexual myths. The study also found support for the relationship between attitude towards sex and acceptance of sexual myths, that is, the more conservative is attitude towards sex the more is acceptance of sexual myths. However this result was obtained for male respondents only. The expected relationships for acceptance of sexual myths and the other variables were not supported in this study.Item Youth perception towards EDSA II and their willingness to participate in political activitiesAblanida, Ligaya A.; Deadio, Dyan S. (Division of Social Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas, 2003-03)This study is a correlational study on the Perceptions of the Youth towards EDSA II and their Willingness to Participate in Political Activities. The study was conducted among one hundred fifty-three (153) randomly selected third year and fourth year high school students from Central Philippine University and West Visayas State University. The results of the study showed that the youth have a positive perception towards EDSA II and have a high level of willingness to participate in political activities. There is a linear relationship between youth perception and willingness. Results revealed that factors such as sex, religion and school orientation do not influence youth perception towards EDSA II. The study concludes that there is indeed a relationship between the youth perception towards EDSA II and their willingness to participate in political activities. However, the factors identified in this study do not have a bearing on youth perception towards EDSA II. The researchers recommend further studies should be conducted, which involved the participation of youth in any governmental matters.
