Item American colonial education: A case study of selected local Filipino educatorsCalibara, Ma. Christine A. (Division of Social Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas, 2014-04)This research paper documents the life and experiences of the four local educators namely Adriano Cabardo, Esteban Amparo, Perpetua Amparo, and Elena Amaparo. As this paper aims to show and document their life, it also aims connects their life experiences particularly to the educational system introduced by the American colonizers, in which greatly affected the flow of their career. The educational system made them one of the pioneer teachers in their hometown due to the training that they have. The teaching career was not only the product of the said educational system for them, but also, this system gave them opportunities to improve their skills on their field such as in music, and writing. The researcher concludes that the educational system as used by the Americans in colonizing Philippines, it also became a room for opportunities for other people to improve their way of life as exemplified by the life and experiences of these four (4) local educators.Item Job satisfaction of teachers, administrative personnel and teacher-administrative personnel of Cabalum Western CollegeCabalum, Jesse Rey Thomas S. (Division of Social Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, University of the Philippines Visayas, 1997-06)The study aim to determine whether there was a difference in job satisfaction among teachers, administrative personnel and teacher-administrative personnel before and after the 15th day salary. The following are file objectives of the study: (1) To determine whether there was a significant difference in job satisfaction before and after the 15th day salary was given, (2) To determine whether there was a significant difference in job satisfaction among teachers, administrative personnel and teacher-administrative personnel before the 15th day salary was given, (3) To determine whether there was a significant difference in job satisfaction among teachers, administrative personnel and teacher-administrative personnel after the 15th day salary. The following hypotheses were formulated : (1) There was a significant difference in job satisfaction before and after the 15th day salary was given. (2) There was a significant difference in job satisfaction among teachers, administrative personnel and teacher-administrative personnel before the 15th day salary was given. (3) There was a significant difference in job satisfaction among teachers, administrative personnel and teacher-administrative personnel after the 15th day salary was given. The schedule was set up by the researcher and the College Dean for Academics (study's cohort) five days before the first 15th day salary for the month of February on February 10, 1997 and after the first 15th day salary on February 20, 1997. The research instrument used was the Job Descriptive Index (Kendall and Hulin, 1969) and was used before and after the 15th day salary. There was no significant difference in the level of job satisfaction before and after the 15th day salary. The researcher also found out that there was no difference in the level of job satisfaction among teachers, administrative personnel, and teacher- administrative personnel before and after the 15th day salary.
