Abstract
This descriptive study aimed to identify the possible factors that may have been influencing homosexual orientation across age-groups. Specifically, it focused on three dimensions namely, intrapersonal, interpersonal, and sociocultural factors. There were a total of 20 respondents, 10 gay men and 10 lesbians who participated in the interview. The respondents completed standardized questionnaires on Parental Bonding and Locus of Control to determine quantitatively Interpersonal and Intrapersonal Factors.
The findings suggest that respondents have early awareness of homosexual orientation and majority of them have internal locus of control. Most of the respondents confirmed the existence of homosexuality in their families and that the nature of parenting styles as perceived by the respondents differs between gays and lesbians. Lastly, educational institution, religion and media are not influencing factors for majority of the respondents.
